Friday January 1, 1915.
Clear with light N E wind - 7°
This is the most beautiful weather we have
had. The cold days have not yet come and the
moonlight with our mind is ideal.
I really hated to go in this morning, after
a nice breakfast I started for ETah but could not
resist the temptation to stop and cut a lot of
diaw blocks.
When I got in I found that Jerome had
been sick and was still quite unable to be up -
and this seems an unhappy way to start the new
year, but perhaps the theory of trying before breakfast
+ laughing all day may insure his health and happiness
for the rest of the year.
We had our dinner after the equinox had
finished. This arrangement enables us to sit as long
we wish after we have come to the end of the first.
El as usual cooked the dinner and filled up
with broiled cariban steaks, topped off with some of
his Christmas fruit cake. Afterwards I played the
violin and the two for me - She Hal - played
cribbage. They alternate cribbage with chess &
never seem to tire of either one.
With all the moonlight I shall be very
glad when we have the sunshine again.
