158 JOY --- Sunday October 11 - 1917 And Still it Blows ! (Twelfth round) We celebrated this day by making the first kite flights Of hers side - the morning one took 'the kite - Radio 3rd out on the ice for about 25 feet from the house x Jersome held her while I man- ued the reel x When all was ready Jersome merely let go the stick and the big bird sailed up as nicely as you please x Oh wind was strong but not so high as it has been lately. Oh kite was unable to lift more than half the wire, she estimated that she was nearly out of just above the water most of the time. Jersome listened in for some time to night but did not get even any static x It is probable that the kite was not high enough and Jersome is planning to send two up on the same wire. After seven o'clock this evening the wind died out somewhat and the kite dived into the water, as we found that ice on 'the kite wire ruined drag the kite down - we took her in x The eighth home flight was brought to a successful close x At this writing our charge is sleeping jura- fully in the aerodrome x The ice again wonderful as far as the house as Etak. It is possible that we may get in type December 1st.
