FOREVER. 157 We maneuvered to a position above the screaming birds and, without waiting to see the white of their eyes, opened fire x She battle of Manila Bay must have been a 'soap + case game' compared to this attack of ours. The enemy didn't have even Arson's choice x We have to present the hearts, wings + legs of fine delicious side dishes and each bird supplies our needs for two meals - i.e. we make each bird last two days as we have no more fresh meat x Saturday, October 10-1917. And Still it Blows ! (elemental sounds.) There were two variations today from the normal disturbance: the wind shook the house in such a way as to produce a number of new noises, and the sky was completely overcast x We are hoping for a good snow storm so soon as the snow drifts about the house will shield it much warmer. At present there is a constant blast up from the earth in the floor and the holes in the shed walls. This morning Jerome found that a leak had filled his new piping with water x He may have to chop the whole table out x Surely he will not last another as long as this present luck continues.
