Sunday May 8 - 1944
I finally found the bikes about 10 miles
east of the Caf. It was in good shape but I did
not feel like going over it in an hour back to fit again.
Forgot my glasses & was more blind for the third
time in the past week.
I have no milk as basted permission & plan
of tea. Having been up 30 hrs. I slept well.
Monday May 9 - 1944
Got up 12:30 AM intending to start at 2:00
AM. I want to catch Max before he & Ethel return
start for the south or they may do.
I had so much trouble with the dogs that
it was 4:30 before I finally got away.
Reached cache & dug out at 10:00 AM
& found Max with Ethel there too. They had been
coughed in the storm & had not gone to Casey
Culvert's & had killed 5 caribou.
I enjoyed a good feed of fresh meat
& some tea. We fed the dogs which were
not strong after the long stretch on provision.
I told Max of my trip x him & E, were interest
ed in hearing this the gate had broken up there in 98
the Caf. 36 hrs later & we would never have
gotten to the bikes here.
We left at 7:20 AM for the south.
