Eureka
Saturday Apr 4 - 24
I cooked lunch + I blew him so I
have left nothing for this march. We
cannot find Joe's trail from this camp so
I have decided to strike for the other shore in
hope of getting some rabbits of the dogs which are
in bad shape.
The teams are not strong enough to
make a whole march today. I plan to
come one 3/4's in two days.
It turned out that Joe too had moved
as we picked up his trail on the 1th ride -
he camped upon his trail in snow &
wind.
Sunday Apr 5 - 24
Just as we were ready to start this am.
Able's shot a wolf near the igloo. We fed
the meat to our manning team.
Rounding Strobeladder at last a
heavy wind + drifting snow.
Reached Mac's igloo at Echer Island.
All except a stray of Mac's note was gone.
From a few words on the bit of paper I knew
that he had killed much ox here.
We hunted most of the night for meat
or some signs of the killing but a
heavy snow storm defeated us.
