Wednesday April 1-13 '4.
We did not reach the igloo until 7:00 pm
although the going proved good most of the day.
We were overjoyed to find that Joe had killed
5 musk oxen at this place and left a note
saying that rabbits, foxes & wolves were also around.
We fed the dogs & filled up ourselves.
The men said that Joe must have left
musk fur & advised me not to leave pennican.
Thursday April 2 - '34'
Made a long march to camp near Poytadder.
Started at 8:05 am & arrived at 11:00 pm. The
weather was mostly hard on dogs as well as men.
One of Ahlis's team died this afternoon.
We quit lost the trail but Ahlis did good
work & kept us right most of the time.
Friday Apr 8 '34'
Clear & pleasant with gentle 50s wind. I
photographed campsite before leaving. Ran over from
both near Poytadder but saw no bears.
Lost the trail time after time because the dogs
insisted upon following up various bear tracks,
another one of Ahlis's dog died & I lost him out
of mine.
