July 17. Up early & got last batch of wet specimens in press & over the heater- all material better than usual because collected in rain. Also sorted yesterday's collections & got them in press, too, so all material now under control. Dorothy spent morning on accounts a bill and I also paid a couple of bills & got Random House check off to bank. Max Brewer & John Schindler stopped by for a drink and ended up by staying for dinner - then their two guests, the administrator of the school at Barron village, with whom they were going to play pinocle, stopped in for the evenings, too. Went to lab late to turn
