May & John in for drinks, John stayed for dinner, then we all went to Barnow village to watch baseball game, boat races and tug-of-war, all postponed from July 4 because of terrible weather that day. Home about midnight, then invited in for a nightcap by our neighbors on the other end of the Quonset, Dave and Fran Mullen - he working on his doctorate with Frank Pitalka, on the physiology of learnings. Earlier, Max had told us that bobwhites were almost immune to Strychnine, so Folk was worried about relaxing his for experimental work!
