July 4. Rained all night & all day - dark & cold, but little wind, at least compared to first few days here. Stayed home & sorted & recorded specimens collected during last 2 days, and Dorothy put them in newspapers. Some 100 collections and nearly as many species- really more if admixtures are counted. Although we have no coal, found that range will heat remarkably well for long enough to warm the warming with newspapers, cardboard, etc. At 4:00 heavy snow began & everything white by 7:00.
