Dense ground fog which lifted soon. Dragging net to the shops I saw two Cardinals, pleasant flydown from the forest to the edge of a field but they eluded me + ran into the forest again without allowing me a shot. Nov. 1] The day dawned disappointingly rainy with low dense fog enveloping the landscape. I was unable to get out to the trepartments. I am waiting for the bad weather. The catch cons- sisted of one more large headed Crowdura, one large Crowdura, & 3 Sprinips (small). The pleasant do not come down to the field in rain or fog but keep to the forest. The rainy season this year is very late, usually (the residents say) it starts Oct. 15th but we have had 10 days of continu- ous rain + mist + the end is not yet. During there today who has been nursing a swollen right foot tendon which has kept him from leaving the fire with water memory to keep the swelling down.
