The road led across the valley and out at the north side, most of the way more than dry pine forest without underbrush, birds or animals generally. This pine (P. Masoniana) is greenish yellow species and the trees bark being very smooth, light brown-red in color. Many of the trees were very slender making poles like the lodgepole pine much for teepee tents. Small valleys in cultivated valleys were farmed for vegetables near the group type which followed in a general way. The days was absolutely cloudless and clear but cold except in the sun at noon.
