After riffin we went two hours
further to Pel-te where we camped
in a deep ravine near one of the
villages. This village is situated
in a deep valley on one side and
part of plateau. The land is terraced
into narrow terraces for rice culture.
24 Spent the day camped at
Pel-te looking for hunters to
assists. At went up the ravine
to inquire of a famous Solo hunter
dwelled who lived at Burned Mtn.
Helrips captured only a few
Eling's monkeys, & the common
small Eling & a few Dwell
Apodemas. Very clear &
bright & really hot afternoon
when the direct rays make
what necessary. All told
not more than 800 feet party
from rice fields & 'heat. I
checked up the mammal
collection today, We have
950 specimens, 75 species &
50 genera.
