Green Sea Turtle: One found on beach, one swimming Beach turtle measured 25" by 24". Left this island at 1430 and headed for ship. Soaked by rain squall. Arrived at ship 1615. One seal seen near ship 'outside of reef.' Fishing very good from ship. Trumpet fish, Ulus, and Sand Sharks. 1630 under- way for Lisianski. 2300 hours Capt. notified us that won't be able to spend night on Lisianski. Will spend night on Laysan but must gain time to pick up disabled ? fishing boat. September 18--Landed on Lisanski at 1045 houss. Approximately 80 immature Frigates over ship. One immature Blue-faced Booby, one adult Red-footed Booby, two adult Brown Boobies. Saw one medium (2 ft across) turtle about 1 mile from shore. 170 Frigates over rubber boat, later increased to 300+. Flies very bad on island. Made population estimate and shot 100 feet of 8 mm. film. Population estimate survey: Seals: adult σ = 43 " ♀ 20 yearling σ 11 " ♀ 15 urclassified adult 22 urclassified young 7 urclassified 3 total 121 No tagged seals found.
