Vegetation changed from volcanic pine and blue
oak to yellow pine and incense cedar as we climbed to the eastward.
Lilac Quail - Coviys of 12 and 14 seen
running dove - 75-100 perched in rocky grassland, along fences.
California Woodpecker - ?
red-cockaded woodpecker in bigger pine-oak woodland
ruby-throated hawk - many in rocky grassland areas
