August 19-20, 1950, Lassen National Park, Manzanita & Reflection Lake areas, Shasta Co. 5800-5900 feet elev. m.s.l. Pied-billed Grebe - 1 on Manzanita Lake. Mallard - saw a total of 34 - 2 groups of 7 appeared to be of 2 adults and 5 young, each, all in immature or eclipse plumage. Green-winged Teal - 1 female or imm. male on Manzanita Lake. Cooper Hawk - at 6500' east of Manzanita L. Sparrow Hawk Coot - total of 15 on Manzanita and Reflection Lakes. Also about 7 3/4-grown young, with dark legs. Also, 3 downy black young, with bright orange- r ed heads. Watched one adult coot single out one mallard, of 7 perched on the lake bank, and chase it into the water. 3 young, each of different size. Pacific Nighthawk - 8 over Manz. L. at 9 a.m. Calliope Hummingbirds - several seen. Monterey Red-shafted Flickers Modoc Hairy Woodpeckers Wright Flycatchers Western Flycatcher Western Wood Pewee Violet-green Swallow Blue-fronted Stellar Jay Clarke Nutcracker -one at camp area. Short-tailed Mountain Chickadee Slender-billed Nuthatches Red-breasted Nuthatches Black-eared Pigmy Nuthatch - at camp with 3 feet of me. California Sierra Creeper Western House Wren Robin Mountain Bluebirds Cedar Waxwings - 7 seen Lutescent Warbler Calaveras Warblers common came within 1 foot of me. Yellow Warbler Audubon Warbler-- imm. very tame, fed with 3 feet of us. Pileolated Warblers common Brewer Blackbirds Western Tanager Oregon Juncos Yosemite Fox Sparrows very very common in Cean. velutinus and Areto. patula in camp area. Especially active early in a.m. August 19, 1950, Hat Lake, 1615-1630 PDST, Lassen Park, Calif. 6470' elev. Lincoln Sparrows Modoc Song Sparrow August 19, 1950, Summit Lake, Lassen Park, 6800' elev. 1445-1540 PDST. Williamson Sapsucker - life lister - first found on red fir, by Ard. Arctic Three-toed Woodpecker - Short-tailed Mountain Chickadee Robin Golden-crowned Kinglet Oregon Juncos
