Sept. 26, 1948. continued: American River, at Fair Oaks, 1300-1315 PDST Green Heron at edge of drying high-water pool Cooper Hawk Killdeer - on the gravel bar of the river Spotted Sandpiper - one on gravel bar above the bridge California Jays - 2 California Bush-tits Sacramento Spotted Towhee River Park - addition, Sacramento 1:30pm. Burrowing Owl - flushed one at edge of stubble field and sand lot. The bird was in a small area containing several burrows, presumable of ground squirrels. Tame.
