2 June, Barrow, Alaska One male seen flying over the beach ridge as the signal N. gas line and settles on the ice on meadow lake. It was chased by several shorebirds on its path over the ridge. 28 June. Barrow, Alaska One seen along the beach ridge nearby gasoline crossing. It flurried towards the east. 1 July. Barrow, Alaska and Wainwright, Alaska 7-8 seen near Wainwright and the associated decline station. Several others noted between Barrow and Wainwright. 5 July. Barrow, Alaska One seen on the beach ridge in the vicinity of the third census plot. 8 July. Barrow, Alaska Three seen in and near WAS area. Two were females, which were seen to fight (by D. Hilke). The third bird, a male, was seen settling. The birds were also molting.
