Holmes, R. 1959 Nyctea scandiaca 12 June Barrow, Alaska One pair was seen S.S. of the village. The F was extremely white and matched the snow color very well. The F had some dusky color in her body feathers and a little darker feathers in the wings. The F was noted sitting on the tundra and flew up upon our approach. 15 June Barrow, Alaska. A F was seen about 100 yards E. of the gas well road on the southern shore of the saltwater lagoon. It was sitting on a mound and flew off when the weasel approached within 30 yards. No F could be seen. 17 June Barrow, Alaska One seen W. of Voth's Area sitting on a small mound. No activity was observed. 19 June Barrow, Alaska One F seen just S. of the Meadow Ridge. (?) Meadow Ridge sitting in the rise of central marsh. After several minutes it flew toward the east along the edge of the marsh. 23 June Barrow, Alaska Four birds seen along beach ridge about one mile east of gas line.
