Tunnel #3. 120 ft deep. Opening 4' x 5'; 20 sq.ft. Temperature 63 feet from opening 48°F. Five bats were observed and left undisturbed - 4 myotis - 1 corynorhine. One Corynorhinus and one myotis were hanging loosely on the ceiling 63 ft from the entrance -- temperature of 48° F was taken at this point. The second Myotis was hanging loosely from the ceiling near the back of the tunnel. Two other Myotis were found wedged closely behind a thin slab of rock jutting out from the ceiling so as to leave a crack about ½ in in width. There were about 100 ft from the entrance. New rat nests were noted on the floor of this mine but no rats seen. This is the first time that I recall seeing Myotis hanging loosely on the ceiling of mines.
