Oct 1932 5 mi. SE Millett P.O., Nyc Co., N.Y. June 8, 1932 They were last night. Mosquitoes were exceptionally thick around cabin this afternoon evening. Weather calm and sunny today but not very hot. Evaporation greater than any day during past week. Water in springs has risen several inches since we were here last week. June 9, 1932 This a.m. I went up to Killdeers nest ½ mi N of cabin - young are not to be seen, but parents were nearby and came close to me. After concealed myself in brush I waited 15 minutes one adult seem to go to shore of small deeping pond 75 yds. N of nest. There I found the four young out on the damp, cracking, earth. They were able to run, but did not do so until I picked one up. Called like an adult but fainter. Kingbird's nest near house contained more cobwebbs, leaves & string this a.m. Left for Berkeley at 8:50 a.m. ¼ mi up road examined Baye Sparrow nest that Linsdale has been watching. One young at 9 a.m. was out of egg. Brother was well feet with exception of head which was still covered by part of shell, and a third only had shell broken in a circle about large diameter.
