of my present and all the rest of time until April
- and while in between there are no matters of importance
or small trifles, I will briefly record them. On Wednesday, July 14th, we went to a place called Lippehove and took some photos. The following day was Sunday and I stayed home.
Monday, August 8th. We went to the village of Oosterbeek where there were many people who had been wounded in battle. It is sad to see so many young men lying on stretchers or in beds. Many are very ill and some have already died. The atmosphere here is heavy with grief and sorrow.
We also visited a hospital nearby which is run by American nurses. They do an excellent job caring for the patients despite the difficult conditions. One nurse mentioned that they receive support from various organizations but still face challenges due to limited resources.
I was deeply moved by what I saw here today. It made me realize how fragile life can be and how quickly things can change. We must cherish every moment we have with loved ones before it’s too late.
On Tuesday, August 9th, we returned to our hotel (the Hotel Diefdijk) near Arnhem where we had been staying since last week. During this time, we received word from home saying that everything is fine there and my parents are well. This news brought relief after such a harrowing experience.
Despite the emotional toll of witnessing war firsthand, I remain grateful for having experienced these events personally rather than hearing about them secondhand through reports or stories told by others.
