P.A.Kelly 1984 Journal 4 By now the weather had improved and the sun was shining. After lunch we loaded more traps into Ann's car and we drove to the 'Rockslide' site (between the Station Buildings and the Highway 89 gate) where we set 10 traps. We then crossed Highway 89 to Exlorichs, 'X89' site and set another 6 traps. The latter site had a mixture of large boulders and loose talus, whereas the Rockslide is a large relatively flat expanse of big andesite boulders. Around 9pm we decided to check all the traps. I checked the Upper Stream Site and wit nessed the escape of a subadult bushy-tail around the side of a closed trap door. Also 2 other subadults responded to my head light and movements, and came within 8 ft of me to investigate. Meanwhile Cathy and Ann checked the Rockslide and X89 but got nothing. [illegible] I again got up at 5am and headed out to the Upper Spring to check the traps. I got nothing at the cabin-laid traps so shifted them to the Upper Spring also. From the 10 traps at Upper Spring I got 3 female Nestora (228g, 267g & 240g) but one died from catching its head in the trap door. All three
