June 26 left Berkeley 1pm, arrived Hastings c't 4 pm.
Stopped off on route for supplies (at Salinas).
Set traps for all females that were lactating
in the long field between June 13 and June 18.
I also trapped from the Y to the pump.
Mon.
600 - 849 PST checked traps. Caught all 8 lact.
females but only 5 were still lact (♀1731,
♀1197, ♀1292, ♀1347, ♀1519). ♀ 1182 has also given
birth since June 15th at H.26 - probably inside.
lost week gives the squeals of young. I also
tagged 2 new juv. ♂>♂ (1870-71, 1872-73; both 65g and
in same trap at H.16. Mom ♀1519 lost the litter of 3
(1714,15,16) I raised in captivity. I also only captured
the 3 resident females (2269, 1390, 1460) in the
Spider Tree. What's become of their young of
the year? The canopy of the Spider Tree has
thinned somewhat due to the great abundance
of oak moths this year - predation easier?
I trapped ♀ 1188 at arb. hose 1B and she descended
from H.1B's Valley Oak and ran along the ground
upon release to H.1.
11:45 a.m. Felt 5.2 Earthquake.
In the afternoon I sacrificed two male
woodrats (Cat # -> 187 and 188) that Harold
Stanback captured in the Red House attic on
night and last night respectively.
Made study skins with partial skeletons and
