Apr. 14 Rained heavily in the morning and remained (cont.) overcast with occasional showers throughout the day.
1156 PST: Blow Pond, no more tracks from the mountain lion and yesterday's tracks have faded because of this mornings rain. The pond turtle was up on the steep bank on the west side of the pond. It plopped into the pond as I approached.
1430: Liam Walsh, my old classmate from U.C.G. Ireland, visited the Reservation with another Irish friend. I showed them around and introduced them to a few captive rats in the lower barn.
1800-1900: Set traps from H.76-97 and from H.100C to the 2nd Crossing. I set a pair of traps at a previously unnoticed house (designated 106A) in the roots of 2 large live Oaks beside a big triangular-shaped rock along the creek opposite H.106. One of Lois Greene's markers (#2211) also marks the spot. I also set a pair at H.127A for the 2nd time.
2130: Started checking traps. It's been raining for the past few hours but all rats will be safe + cozy in the shelters. Trap success was very low overall. So much for the pigment-tracking program I hoped to accomplish over this new moon (Sat.) period. I did have a few interesting
