Apr 13 towards Haystack Hill - although where (out) I actually saw the lion would have been out of their line of vision. I scanned Haystack at the time however, but all I saw was a lone deer in the Valley Oaks on N side of Pearson field. Were they responding to the lion or not?
1349 PST: Blom Pond, found 2 resolute + 2 faints lion pugmarks at the West end of the pond. I was following up a suggestion by Shorty that the lion might have been returning to Haystack after taking a drink at the pond. The two best tracks measure (wide) 80mm x (long) 70mm approximately. There are also a lot of fresh pig tracks around the pond, and at least one pond turtle apparently survived the bulldozer (or else immigrated since the pond was deepened).
1640 PST: Released #1519 and her 3 attached young at an entrance to H.16. She smelled around for a moment and then rushed straight into the house. I also put a bunch of her nesting material and the remaining 10 or 12 acorns in an entrance also in case she need dry + familiar - smelling bedding. It has been raining lightly off and on since
