Jan. 29 Houses on the Arnold Rd at Hastings
(cont.) A.1 60cm High x 110 cm Base Diameter
(1065 pft) Grove of Q. agrifolia + Madrona
W. Rhus diversiloba Toyon, Coffeeberry undersory "M"
Has 2 active basal entrances.
Hze composed of dead twigs + sticks.
No cuttings but some R. diversiloba
is growing through the house. Hze supported on one side by a small
live oak [circum at breast height is
48cm => DBH = 15.3cm]. No
food cache, burbs or midden mound
outside of house.
20 cm Diameter nest on ground in
center of house. No rat(s) emerged.
Nest composed of dry grass +
lether. A few small cuttings of
live Oaks, 1 lge leaf of Toyon. No
acorns or food store chambers
found. Number of underground
tunnels - some 30cm deep. Didnt
(1117 pft) follow them out completely. No
other rat house in sight.
A.2 67cm H. x c. 150cm B.D. In pile of
(1132pft) discarded Brush in Barranca beside
some lge live Oaks. Old nest, no
food store.
