Mar. 28 of acorns by clearing middens and monitoring
(cont) build up of more lunks. I should also
dismantle some houses on the Arnold to
assess magnitude of acorn stores.
1931 pST.: At lab ♀1519-20 seems to be
suckling all 3 young now. She's very
quiet, hunched w. head down in bed but
her heartbeat looks fast. She has eaten
many of the 10 acorns I gave her this
morning, so I gave her 10 more. I also
gave her 2 leaves of lettuce, a med.-
sized carrot. She still has H2O, a dish of
cleaned corn and some Live Oak leaves.
2314 pST: ♀1519-20 still suckling all 3
young. Seems very quiet.
Tues. 0016 pST: At H.103A captured two jwr.
Mar. 29 females (♂1671-72, 53g; ♀1673-74, 58g). I caught
their mom (♀1453-54) at H.102 (with ♂1173-74)
about 30 mins earlier. She came over to
H.103A and responded with tail-rattling
from in and around 103A to their protest
squeaks. She stuck her head out of 103A
and watched me. I could also hear T.R.
from H.102 (♂1173?). Put the 2 jwr in the
same trap and reset the other one for Mom.
She didn't go into the trap though by 0103pST.
so I released both young - They entered
H.103A. Slept in back of the truck until 0530pST.
