P.A.Kelly 1988 Journal Thurs 0>1651. The unidentified rat was possibly Mar.10 0>1284 from H.47, he is also the probable (cont.) father of 0>1651. We then tried to do some playback (before returning 0>1651 to H.51). The first on Jeff's Takedeck playback of the juv's squeals resulted in ?1489 coming out of H.51 again. But some repeated playbacks from my smaller Sanso Tape Deck (placed in the entrance to H.51) did not illicit any response. We packed up at 2245 PST. pretty pleased with our evening's work. Fri. 0620 Got up, had breakfast loaded the Mar.11 truck and we headed off to Chew Ridge. Jeff brought 3 decoy birds along in the hope of collecting some cross bills. He collected one 0 purple finch around 0800. Within We set up in a secluded group of Pines (?f? ) and Oaks on the N.W. side of Tassajara Rd (Gate was unlocked) oppisite the Chew Ridge Lookout Station. We hiked around the area, no sign of any rat houses - even up by the lookout Station (undergrowth has been burned). Saw Bluebird, Titmice, Chickadees, Acorn Woodpecker, (Lge Granary in Q. lobata), Juncos, Hairy Woodpecker, W.B. Nuthatch, Pygmy Nuthatch, Calif? Quail, RS.Towhee, Both Jays,
