Feb.6 Got hold of Joanne and Karen at 0730 PST and
we went out to check and close the remaining
traps in the long field and on School Hill.
We tagged 2 new @2@ (1595-96, 1597-98) and new
♀ 1593-94 at Hzes 502, 503 + 501 respectively.
After breakfast I took them on a more
thorough tour through the upper creek area,
then up Haystack Hill and down through the
Chamise to the lane. Both All of us were pretty
exhausted at this stage so we took it easy
until 4pm, when we went out again + trapped
from the Y (Hze1) to H.69. Tonight, we would
like to pair up a few females.
Around 9pm (2100 PST) we paired up ♀1347 with her
daughter ♀ 1569-2300. They did not interact at all
during the 6 min. observation period. We then
paired ♀1569-2300 with her niece ♀1465-66. They
did not interact for 4 mins, but when I termin
ated the observation they started interacting. We
watched them for 5 mins longer and saw
amicable affiliative interactions ("Face", Snuffing,
and "Contact"). We checked remaining traps between
H1 + 69. Got to bed by 2300 PST.
Sun.
Feb.7 I got up at 0700 and went out to check remaining
traps at Hzes 1, 2A, 5-9, 11, 15, 16 + 68. Packed up all
my gear and I headed back to Berkeley at 10am.
(arr. 1pm). Joanne + Karen waited or in Hastings until
lunchtime to do some bird-watching.
