P.A. Kelly 1987 Journal the oaks. Came back and got Tom Kucera's 4 ri 25 Sept rifle (Ruger H77 30-06 with Bushnell (cont.) Sportview Scope). The boar was still rooting under the oaks up near the fence (W of House). There was another Yellow/Black pig with him. I moved downwind of the pigs and edged tow ards them along the chaparral. Stood and waited about 35 yards away from the oaks, Both pigs came into view but I think they got my scent and were a little nervous. Took aim at the half exposed chest of the young black boar and fired from a standing position. He bounded out into the open with both forelegs broken below the shoulder. Couzy shot. He was too feisty to finish off manually so I shot him again through the chest. I then dragged him downhill to my Pickup Truck - he was fairly heavy (about 150 lb), starting to put on weight and his coat was in good condition. I butchered him in the lower Barn and I kept his skull (Cat# PK 171) and his reproductive tract (for Zoo 163/183). Then (6pm) I was able to get back to my real duties. I set 60 traps, mainly in the lower long field at H2es 100A -> 138, and 201->210. Went to bed at 9pm exhausted
