Apr. 24
8:30am - 9:30am: Checked and closed all
25 traps on Sch. Hill. Caught 3 new
?? and 2 new ??? but no emigrants
from the Long Field.
Saw a Whiptail (Cnemidophorus tigris) eating
a lge Jerusalem Cricket beneath the Coenotus
between the Red Hze + the School Hze. First
whiptail I've seen in 1987. That brings to
4 species of lizard I've seen in the past week
(Phrynosoma, Cerrhonatus, & Sceloporus as
well). I still have to see a skink (Eumeces
schiltronius) however. I've also seen 2
King Snakes (Lampropeltis), 1 Racer
(Coluber) and 1 Garter Snake (Thamnophis)
in the past few weeks. No Pituophis or Crotalus yet.
