Apr 17 (cont) (H5-9) for me and put a 100' plastic clothesline thro' the pulley for a fourth attempt at a rat-proof trapping platform system for arboreal houses. So far the rats at 5-9 have chewed through 3 diff. thicknesses of cord.
I caught a big beautiful Coast Horned Lizard Phrynosoma coronatum on the stepping stones in front of the Red H2e. Enlarged postanal scales indicate that it is a ♂. He weighs 42 g and has a SV length of about 90 mm. This is the first time I've actually seen this species let alone at Hastings. I did see the Desert shs P. platyrhinos near Pisgal Crater in May of 1985 with Tom Wake.
Between 1700 & 1900 pst I set 130 Tomahawks at 68 rat houses. Decided to hit the sack early and then get up and start checking traps at 4 am. I was a little worried by the weather however since a dense wet fog was moving in.
Apr 18 6 at up 4 am. 0300 pst Grass was heavy with dew but all the woodrats were dry. I caught 10 ♂⊗ and 18 ♀♀ and finished up by 7:30am. I also picked up another disher last night: ♂ 1112/13 at H136 last trapped at the Spider
