Left Berkeley c. 10:30 am and drove to Sierra City via I-80 to Colfax and then Hways 174 and 49. Looked for Opossum-Tail Activity along the way. Found an extensive rockslide:
Yuba River, SE of Junction well Strawberry Creek,
Sierra Co., California (5040 ft)
Extensive boulder field on steep slope on E. side of Yuba River. Lot of old whitewash with occasional spots fresh urine, no faeces. No fika sign either. Rockfield surrounded by dense brush:- oak, shrubs w. prickly "cookers", manzanita. Also some lge Red Fir. Along creek more Fir trees, Jeffrey Pine, some small Junipers, Willows, more shrubs + brush, also a shrub with reddish/orange bark but Cottonwood-like leaves. Also a number of large Cottonwood along creek. Set 10 traps under lge rocks (w. whitewash) just E. of river.
Then headed off in search of other locations near Sardinia Lake, Picker Lake and Gold Lake Rd. Didn't find any fresh sign. It was too dark when I found the other huge rockslide a f 2.2 mi. E. of S.F. State Field Station. (Visited it last yr.) to set any more traps. Couped at Strawberry Cr. Campground, after going into Sierra City for a beer.
