P.A. Kelly 1986 Journal July 16 Got up at 5 am and made breakfast. Cleared camp and headed S on Hway 158 to check our traps. We had 10 musky-tails (Cat #s 142-151) in the 30 traps. More than I expected! We spent the morning pulled in to a grove of ashens across the Hway (E side) killing, measuring and taking tissues. We decided to head S. to Bishop to Tom Kucera's place (Wildlife; doing Ph.D. on Mule Deer Movements) to finish up the study skins. Tom wasn't around so we headed W. and checked out rockfiles around Sabrina Lake (c. 9000 ft) for woodrat sign. Didn't find any. We camped by a bridge 4-5 miles up Pine Creek Road overlooking the valley. We shinned all eleven woodrats in prep. for study skins in the morning. July 17 Got up 6 am. We got all the skins put up by 11:30. We then drove W on Pine Creek Rd until it culminated at a Pack Station and Tungsten Mine at 7600 ft. Found some old whitewash or rocks above the Pack Station, but no fresh sign. The station operator has not seen any woodrat activity in the area either. Finally got Tom at home in Bishop. After dinner I drove N with Tom, and Sue to some volcanic escarpments (immediately E. of Fish Slough),
