P.A. Kelly 1986 Journal July 12. Sagehen Creek Field Station, Nevada Co., California left Berkeley with Sue Bonfield (M.Sc, field assistant Woodpecker Project at Hastings) around 10am, arrived Sagehen c. 1pm. Showed Sue around the station and stowed our gear. At 4pm we assembled 30 Tomahawks and set 12 at U. Spring , 6 at S.Spring, 6 at the Rockslide, and 6 at X89. All were baited w. GOB and had a wad of Dacron/Cotton added. Didn't do an evening trapcheck. Instead took Sue to see the Trestle and Wyethia beaver 'colonies'. Unfortunately, we did not see any beavers. Hit the sack at 10pm July 13 Got up at 5am and headed out to check all traps: U. Spring . ♀ 1222 181g perf. bloody stain on vulva. (12 traps) ♀ 2186 275 g lact., Milk +ve, Perf., Symp. Notched (6 Traps). new ⟶1251 136g TAKE BLOOD NEXT TIME In the afternoon checked out Carpenter Ridge with Sue. Did not see any Woodrat sign in the Rockslide at the top, but did see Pika sign and a pair of Marmots.
