PA Kelly 1986 Journal Sierraville (Highways 70489). Stopped en route and checked my Site 4.2 did not find any fresh urine or droppings during a 15 min. search. The bushes under the cliff face are just starting to bud. Sagschen Creek is flowing strongly but at least the field station was completely accessible. U.Sprng Rockslide is virtually free of snow. Lots of fresh droppings, some fresh urine. Probably 2-3 adult rock rats on the rockslide. Saw 1 golden-mantled ground squirrel high on the rocks. The h. Spring is covered in 4-6 ft or more of snow. Met Sandie Martin (wife of Joe Thornton the current mgr). She let me borrow Ellen Woodards powerful headlamp for a few days.
