Receiver TRX-24A (Wildlife Materials Inc, courtesy of Kay Holekamp) in the open at the Red House at 11.30am. Effective signal range was only about 50m.
1.30pm -> 2253 not in H19, ie no signal there.
Did however get an intermittent signal just W of 19 and then from 20. Then came back at 2.40pm and found -> 2253 dead and partly eaten (see field notes & Cat# 132) on soil mound just E. of H.20.
April 13 Hastings Nat. Hist. Res., Carmel Valley, Monterey Co., CA
left Berkeley 1pm, arrived Hastings c. 4.30pm.
Gene Fowler (Wildlife Dept.) travelled down separately in his van. He came to help me trap woodrats but also to advise Jim Griffin on control of the serious pig problem at Hastings.
5pm released -> 2295 w. transmitter at H.15. Also trapped active hares #9 - 81.
