In the afternoon we
drove to the Gr Basin Desert at Chilcoot,
with Jim & Carol
Everybody set trap lines and one van return
ed to Sagelen with 7 students. The rest
of us camped out. Dotzy and I demonstrated
how to use the MVZ's new night vision
goggles. The class lit a huge campfire
and after dinner we all sat around drinking
beer and telling stories. I set some traps
for bushy tailed down the creek from our
campsite in some huge boulders. Found a
large store of green leaves in a rocks
crevice.
Sept. 15 After breakfast I tagged a large ->
woodrat (over 500g) at the Big Rockpile.
Jim & Carol arrived around 7.30am. We broke
camp, lifted all trap lines and returned
to Sagelen where the class resumed work
on their study skins. Some of the class helped
Joe Thornton remove the tarps from the tent
platforms before we headed off for Berkeley.
