Sept. 13 Sagehen Creek Field Station, Nevada Co., CA
Jim & Carol Patton, Betsy Mitchell & I took
the current Mammalogy class (Zoo 63) of 30
students on their first fieldtrip to Sagehen
& Chilcoot. We drove up in the morning in
5 Ford 8-seater vans (rented from Hertz, the
campus garage could not get their act tog
ether).
At Sagehen I took 1/3 of the group south
to Sagehen Creek at Hwy 89 while Jim & Betsy
took the remainder north to Kiln Meadow.
The students set 2 lines of 10 Huson Specials
each, as well as Tomahawks for woodrats
and flying squirrels. After dinner Tim took
everybody into the conference room and
gave a lecture & demo on traps and trapping
methods. At 11pm we took everybody out to
check their trap lines.
