P.A. Kelly 1985 Journal ground-squirrel capture. In the afternoon tried to find Escherick's "Stream" Site on the north side of Leophold's cabin but no luck. Instead I lifted the 3 traps from the "Rockslide" and 5 from the L. Spring and relocated them through- out the U. Spring (18 traps in total). Then laid down (4) Havaharts at the L. Spring- the Station's supply of 16" Tomahawk traps apparently has been moved back down to Berkeley. Good job I brought my own supply of 25 Chifmunk Traps with me. eate afternoon, I reset the 7 traps at * a Beechey X89 but also set a huge Tomahawk round Squirrel -base of hill for an apparent resident carnivore (badger?) ear Lge boulders Baited it with a tin of cooked beef from the back of the kitchen cupboard. As the night stayed dry and not too cold, decided not to do a late-night trap check and instead hit the sack early. 2, Jun 4 Got up at 5.15 am I checked all traps. U. Spring: #2174, #2176, #2177 & 2 Ground Squirrels L. Spring: Nothing X89 : Nothing Released -> #2179 at the L. Spring and proceeded to collect all the traps.
