Oct. 26 Sagehen Creek Field Station, Nevada Co., CA.
left MVZ with Dave Goode and Catty about 1.15 pm and we arrived in Truckee by 4.15 pm. Got some food in Truckee before continuing north on Hwy 89 to Sagehen. Mike & Mary Foder Williams were away for the weekend, but Bruce Johnson was up from Davis doing some seed predation experiments. We collected 25 Cliffmunk traps (16"x 5 1/2" x 5 1/2" with 1 x 1/2" mesh) from the Trail Hut and set 10 at Upper Spring, 6 at lower Spring, and 9 at the Rockslide. Some light rain falling throughout the evening, worried about leaving traps out all night long. Back at the station Catty cooked a delicious bolognaise for dinner.
At 8.30 pm we ventured out to check all 25 traps and got 2 rats at the Upper Spring and 2 more at the lower Spring.
At 10pm checked remaining 21 traps again, got one more bushy-tail at the U. Spring. light Snow starting to fall, so closed any traps that were not well sheltered (6 in all & 14 left open).
Oct. 27 7.30am Cold, clear morning. Frosting of over-night snow. Checked open traps at U. Spring (5) and Rockslide (9) and got one Woodrat at U. Spring. Spent the morning taking blood from toe clips,
