June 2 Cucho Station, 3 1/2 mi. E under Flat on Hwy. 120, 4452 ft.
the history of this old stage cook station built with
hotel, stables, culine in late 1860's, this spot is
a huge collector's heaven. Boards ad other litter are
all over the ground plus rotting logs down near the
meadow. I took a rubber boa, saw but lost a
yellow-bellied mtn deer down a rodent burrow, got
cervinus colorus, Euceros gilberti; many scelogenus
seen but warned me and not easily approached with
noose. By 5:15 I was at Cane Flat Ranger
Station. Talked hurriedly with a ranger there and
he told of seeing and dening coronus at Tuoga
Pass both day ad evening. He believes cold spray
(evenings) of last week freezing the frods down.
arrived Old Village 5:44 P.M., tried a surgery.
June 5 Left Happy Lakes, Yosemite Valley 9:45 A.M. back-
packing into little Yosemite area via the merced lake
trail. Pair of ? scelogenus roosed side of trail
below Nevada Falls. Weather clear and mild. made
camp at noon along merced near junction Half Dome
and merced lake trails. Caught two reinbown for
dinner using brown bottle fly, 2 P.M. checked with
cook at nearby trail maintenance camp. He pointed
pond just off Half Dome trail about 1/8th mile N of
merced River. I checked it out. No frods present but
4 young Thunnogchis seen in pool. One coptured.
I continued around the NE sides of Liberty Cage ad
Mt. Broderick. Finally came upon large marshy area
