E.L.Karlton 1954 Journal (17) may 23 Perogay meadow, 7300 ft. Yosemite Natl. Park, Marjina Co., Calif. tightly by Stebbins two weeks ago. Hopefully it will resume normal operation if spring gets close to unwind some. Warm sunny afternoon with moderate breeze. Jim Clarke, Ranger at Chirguazi, stopped by while I was at the meadow. He suggested getting my car completely off the road since Sunday traffic heavy and cars tend to speed up on the straight-away here. Clarke mentioned meadow in front of lodge at Bridger Pass much water and he thinks he saw a food from there. I returned to Valley about 3:30 P.M. Assembled gen Tent 4 Camp 19. Return to meadows day Clover Point road 8 P.M. Temp. low 50½, clear night at Pothole meadow, 1700 ft., Y.N.P. Marjina Co., Calif. 9:10 P.M. (D.S.) Hyler calling adult ♀ Rana Choral temp. 13.5°C, water 14.0°C, air 10.2°C. 9:20 B.M. I decked water tower in sunny windlet, 9.1°C. 3 other adult frogs seen. No chorus (above temp. data under Rana draylei species account, too). I returned to Bart. Center meadow 11:00 P.M. after making a hurried check of Perogay meadow. No chorus calling latter. Found 3 adult bronze at Bart. Center site. Night clear and cool. Air temp. 12.5°C. @ 11:05 P.M. may 24 Yosemite Valley. Day spent setting up tent and equips- ment Camp 19 and records space at museum.
