Aug. 2 150 yards NE of Tioga Pass Ranger station, 9920 ft.
moro Co. Calif. Small pool with toads present.
Pool size 4' x 4' x 1-1/2" maximum depth. Mud
bottom. Pool supplied with ground seep water,
a type of pothole. Sedges & grasses bordering it
to 10" tall, also a knottedweed (Polygonum) Toad
body length of 1/2", total length 1"+. Beginning
hind leg development. Water temp. 290 C. at
11:40 A.M. (D.S.) Air temp. 1" above grass (bull
rushed) 270 C. One small adult toad in pool.
