El Karstein 1954 Bufo cernus x B. boreas Oct. 10 Todgole of Tioga Bass cernus ff x Yosemite Valley o>, (see drawing) m.s. 222 used to quiet todgole. B.L. = 11.1 mm. Tail 17.0 mm. Interorbital distance 2.7 mm. Distance from tip of snout to a line drawn transversely front of eyes 2.1 mm. Body and muscular portion of tail deep gray to blockish but the tail membrane almost lacking in melanophore expression - few flecks mostly brown region. Silver-copperish flecks present scattered over postro-ventral region of body but few anterior to spiracle. deep gray-black Again silvery - copperish flecks round pupil and few over iris. Teeth 2/3 with fringes laterally. Ble uppermost of lower labial rows continuous across middle. Oct. 14 In checking hybrids (todgoles and tail bud stages) in large quantity, I noticed one toad with scarcely spotting or blotching dorsally. Body length 11.2 mm. Anvil foot ad apparently Tail 4.1 mm. in good stage Vertical region blockish except lighter throat. red-brown (salt & pepper effect) A few other show dark mottling deep dus. brun to block but are overall uniformly darker.
