Buffs (17)
May 26 0.2 mi NW Kaiser Pass Summit, Fraser Co., Coly.
this time so switeled in my herdmg presenring
to pulling sticks, there were 3 adult Buffs within
25 feet of me, one 4 feet from me which was
placed 15' from me out toward the center of the
meadow.
May 27 Same locality as above. Frost over everything this A.M.
Temp. over frozen ground beside the car at 7:15 A.M. (D.S.)
-2.0°C, no anemone calling from meadow, I had
breakfast and then went out to check the meadow, no
adult moles out in open. Water frozen except where
its moving, 1/4" thick ice over still pools, I started
turning over logs. One adult -> under pine (?) log
located 25 yards W of pine forest margin. Burden
piece of log 4'x9"x8". She -> was 3/4 the emmised
in a pool measuring 6'x4'x3" deep. Air temp. 7:45
A.M. 1" above frozen ground - 6" from food -2°C.
Blody hole from 50' lodgepole pines to east. Sun
just filtering through, ice 1/4" thick on yards, above
food had cleared temp. 1.8°C.; water in which it
sat, the same. Replaced log over food (later check
at 1 P.M. showed this small did moved out from
under log - may have been one I type recorded calling.)
Temp. under another log 5' from where food found
4°C. 1" deep pool unfrozen water beneath log,
7:58 A.M. (D.S.) I found ne juneval food under
a curved rotted log 5'x6"x4". log situated under
pine forest edge of meadow. Blade hole but 10%.
