L. Karlstam 1954 Bufo arenarius (42) June 30 Central meadow, 4000 ft., Yoz Valley, Marysvale Co., Colid. It is apparent that the tall, dense meadow grass is unattractive for movements of adult toads. Grasses and bunchion is increasingly dense under scattered yellow [illegible]s of study pond. I checked water running westward down middle of meadow. Sneezeweed now blossomed out and plants average 22", maximum 28". Blockbirds out and calling. Afternoon mild with moderate westerly breeze. A fairly extensive check of water over 3/3rds of entire meadow made. Only tadpoles only. Water level about same as in past weeks except in certain places at edges of meadow where spring flow loching. It may yet be possible for toads to produce young in this meadow. June 30 July+ books Large adult FF captured W of coryphice site by children at Conge 14. Will be used for breeding with Triuga Rossa cornus. This toad under trees at least 100 yards from Merced River. Captured about 7:45 P.M. July 1 Conge 14, 4050 ft., Yosemite Valley. Another adult FF collected back of stage 10:10 A.M. (D.S.). He appears vigorous. Evidence points to a general spread out population of toads in Valley.
