E. K. Karlton 1954 Bufo boreas (18) April 25 1/2 mi. S Gort. Center 4000ft. Yosemite Valley, Yoz. Natl. Park Mariposa Co., Calif. Stebbins and I worked 9:30 A.M. (Daylight Savings) until 1:00 P.M. setting up the weather station. Photos taken of the station. Water depth where the float stuck out 19". Present length of stake above the water now 6 1/2". The galvanized tube containing 2 thermographs (air and water [soil]) set on the grass surface with water 1 inch up around its base. The lead tubing for the water recordings extends 8 feet N from the tube. The open spout from the tube is 4 inches above standing water. Soil temp at (X) about 1:00 P.M. (D.S.) 6" - 12°C. (53°F.) 12 - 11°C. (52°F.) Water willed upz 18 - 10°C oz at Perogoy Meter. 24 - 10°C Weather station containing max-min set 18' SE of tube. One max-min placed in soil a foot NW of weather box.
