L. Karlstrom 1954 Bufo boreas (13) April 21 Stoneman mdr., 4000 ft., Yosemite Valley, Monjina Cr., Calif. meadow 150 yards N Camp Curry. (notes from Stebbins) Quiet pools in low oers in meadow, water 210 C., 4:35 P.M. Numerous tyla and Bufo tuda. Bufo tuda in pond A further advanced than thse in pool 40-50 ft. to S. Water of two pools not connected . air 1" above dry grass (sky overcast) 14.4° C. at 4:40 P.M. Black humus filled loan (when pushed up dry goober?), water saturated, squeezed easily from soil. Soil as saturated as that of Peregoy today. Trap. soil just under surface 17.4° C. Grass of mdr. 2-5" high, sparse, much matted dead grass slowing, scattered dead thistle stalks. Many (10-12) robins seen about pools, possibly gathering mud and other nesting materials (or feeding?) Brewer's blackbirds about, one seen bathing. Pool where smaller tods found (sample preserved) 9" deep (max. depth). 5 ft new grass deadgrass matt browish water Many tods attached to dead grass blades + piece of paper in water.
