Buffy breeds (8)
April 14 is nearly the same shade but lighter. Maximum width of stygia is 3.5 mm. in region between parotoids. Dorsal black blotches are large (largest 1 cm. across) and distinct. RT 11.1 x 3.6 mm., LT 7.8 x 5.2 mm. The foot hooks are fairly well developed this from specimen or two-three in the others of this series.
ELIC 162 similar coloration 159-160. Vertebral striage is thin, cream-white and distinct throughout its length. Body length 91 mm., LT 12 x 4.1 mm., RT 11.8 x 5 mm.
April 15 Analyzed pond water samples for pH. Used phenolphtalein papers two ranges, one 5.2-6.6 and other 6.0-8.0. These were tested against standards using Thymol Blue method. Degree of error probably +-.0.2 of one pH unit or less.
Stevenson Meadow, pond A pH 6.8
Between Sentinel Bridge and Camp 6,
SE side of road. Biggest-looking pond 6.6-6.8
Same locality but pond where Iyden breeding 6.4
It would appear that the froggy pool which had no Iyden breeding in it does not have any possible adverse pH range. O2 capacity may then be a limiting factor (?)
April 14 I had weighed out a soil sample taken from Stevenson Meadow, 2 inches below the soil surface 8 feet WNW of pond A. Sample collected April 9 and kept sealed in jar. A sandy black loam
